Fun Summer Activities To Do With The Fam
What does summer mean to you, as a parent of 3?
Does it mean picking up after their fun adventures at the beach (soggy towels are not fun!)?
Driving them all over town for birthdays, movie screenings, pool parties and whatnot?
Spending your days in the kitchen making their favorite dishes and then cleaning up while the brood sits in front the T.V.?
You deserve a vacation too; but most importantly you deserve time off to spend with your kids! Sure you can book plane tickets and go to Disneyworld but that will be an expensive summer!
Instead, why not choose one or all fun summer activities from the following list that everyone in your family will enjoy?
Enjoy a Day at Your Local IKEA
The family that shops together stays together. This home retail giant also offers a supervised and fun play-space where parents can leave their younger kids for 90 minutes of parent-fee fun and games. Another idea is to take a trip to an indoor court at a nearby public elementary school, to take refuge from the harsh sun or summer storm.
Host a Neighborhood Game Night
Summers and classic outdoor games go hand in hand. Add in some friendly rivalry and you have got a people pleasing evening!
Pick a day or evening in the week to hold a multifamily friendly competition (the family Olympics). Games that can be included are think kickball, softball, and capture the flag. Divide in new teams and also assign a different parent as referee each time. You can also prepare prizes for the competition.
When was the last time you had a family photo-shoot, even an informal one? This is an excellent opportunity to have one, adding another chapter of your life in the family album.
Assign a day for the photo-shoot to take place, tell everyone to dress-up in their finest (or cleanup at least) and begin the day with some fun photography. You can even hire a professional family photographer NJ who’ll capture a stunning family portrait as well as other fun pictures.
Cook Your Favorite Meal
Food brings people closer together. Imagine the huge impact of cooking when it comes to making relationships stronger.
Decide beforehand what you want to cook – breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Brainstorm the perfect ideas of foods you want to make. You can also choose to cook something you haven’t but always wanted to; experiment! Remember to pick a kid friendly recipe that your children can help you make.
Summer is an excellent time to spend time with your loved ones, making new memories and re-living old ones. Has it been a year since your last family portrait was taken? Maybe it’s better to tick off this from the list first! Shoshi Sharabi of NJ and her fantastic family portrait photography NJ skills can help.
