Mommy & Me: Activities to Help You Bond With Your Child
As parents, we spend majority our days taking care of our children, trying to shape them into the kind of individuals we want them to be. We do our best to mold them into successful and independent individuals who are courteous, organized, and ambitious.
But sometimes, we just want to spend time with our little ones, making sure they feel loved and happy. As mothers, the bond we share with our child cannot be expressed in words. They are our joy and our world. So it’s understandable that you want to spend as much time with them as possible, to make sure they are happy, healthy, and feeling loved.
Here are a few ways to spend time with your child and let them know how much they mean to you:
Read a Good Book Together
Reading together every night is a great way to spend time with your child. In addition, it will help expand their vocabulary and unleash their imagination! You can pick up a nice book that has colorful illustrations. This will keep your little one entertained. Furthermore, it will help you relax after a long, stressful day at work.
A Monthly Date with Mommy and Daddy
It’s important that your child spends one-on-one time with both of you. Plan monthly ‘dates’ with them. One trip should be with daddy and one should be with you. This way, your child will get to bond with both of you and you don’t have to worry about not giving them enough attention. This will also help you because you will get to have one day to yourself.
You can plan monthly or bi-monthly dates. Make sure it’s according to your schedule. Once you confirm your availability, only then tell your child that you will be going somewhere special.
Act Like a Goofy Kid Sometimes
Kids always spend time playing amongst themselves because they’re used to thinking of you as a parent. If you want to connect with them on a personal level, make sure to act their age sometimes! You can start by telling them a funny story from your childhood, or tell them about that one embarrassing thing that still haunts you.
You can also pick alternate weekends to do something together, like play scrabble or solve a puzzle together. You can even start a treasure hunt in your backyard!
Unfortunately, childhood doesn’t last forever. Fortunately, we can freeze these beautiful, fleeting moments on lens. So take advantage of that and arrange for a photography session with your little one!
You can photograph the time you spend with your sweetheart and create an album of adventures and memories!
