Essential Prep List for Your First Baby Photoshoot
Congratulations on your wonderful news! What will you name the baby? Have you began clothes shopping yet? How are you going to announce this lovely news to friends and family?
When you’re pregnant—especially for the first time—it can be difficult to even imagine what it is going to be like to have a baby.
You won’t have room to think of anything else, especially during the first few months. Yet, there are some things that you must keep in mind before your baby comes into the world.
Opting For Infant Photoshoot – What to Expect
The first few days in the hospital are usually intense. You won’t be thinking about much during this time except healing from your ordeal and keeping a close eye on your baby. An infant photoshoot can be scheduled a week or so later when you are rested and comfortable.
Remember to reserve your spot a month in advance as infant photography is incredibly popular, making it difficult to find good photographers who are free for your project.
Look at the following essentials when preparing for the photo session.
Feed and Burp Baby before Picture Taking
A hungry baby will be cranky throughout the photo session, increasing your stress levels and disrupting the session. Ideally, you want your baby to be asleep during the photoshoot or at least agreeable when awake.
This is why it’s important to feed and burp the baby before coming to the shoot.
Most baby photography sessions commonly last around 3 hours, so make sure to take along your baby’s formula to the studio in case he/she gets hungry midway.
Swaddle Your Baby for the Best Sleepy Pictures
Babies are known to sleep a lot during the first dew weeks after their birth. They like being wrapped up snugly and cosily in a blanket, looking like a sleepy angel. It’s a good idea to wrap up your baby in a blanket after taking pictures featuring different costumes or a tight diaper.
Not only will this hide the red marks that must have appeared but swaddling your baby will guarantee cute pictures.
Prep Yourself Too
Chances are, you and your partner will want to be part of this. Get yourself ready on the day of the shoot with this in mind.
