5 Important Tips for Your Bundle of Joy’s First Photography Session
Your little one is finally out in this world and you can scarcely believe it.
Their big curious eyes and little starfish hands hook onto everything they can get their mitts on and you want to shout it from the roof tops, “that’s right! This is my baby! Look how perfect she is!”
Though it does seem tempting, perhaps the best way to announce how perfect your little one is, is by having a photography session, with them as the star of the show!
How to Get the Best Photos from Your Newborn’s Photo Session
1. Keep their Belly Full
Babies don’t cooperate on an empty stomach. Have a nursing session with your little one a while before the shoot begins. Have them fed, burped and snuggled to allow your photographer enough time to take some great shots.
And while you’re at it, eat something yourself as well. As a parent, you need strength, so stay hydrated and keep munching on fruits and vegetables for that extra bout of energy.
2. Don’t Stress
As a professional, your photographer will be well-aware that babies usually run the show when it comes to their photo session.
If your little one starts crying, wants to feed ,or needs their diaper changed, the photographer will not mind waiting. In fact, as a mother of four and a newborn photographer NJ, I myself know what it’s like to have your hands full, so don’t feel embarrassed if your baby wants some extra attention at a certain time.
3. Give it a Full Day
Don’t schedule anything else on the day of your baby’s photoshoot.
Newborn sessions can take a long while, especially with the multiple feedings, outfit changes and getting the baby back to sleep for those adorable sleeping shots.
Save yourself all the stress and schedule all your events for another day.
4. Bring an Extra Set of Hand
If your partner isn’t able to help, bring a friend or an adult family member. You’ll already have your hands full with the baby as well as their diaper bag. Having someone alongside will give you some much needed support in case you’re bringing in props or the baby’s older siblings who you need to keep an eye on.
5. Schedule the Session Sooner
The best time would be within one or two weeks. Babies sleep a lot during these days, so it will be much easier for your photographer to move and place them in cute positions without waking them up. Just be sure to take care of the above factors before booking the photo session.
