Winter Photography Sessions with Twins: How to make the most of it!
What is more delightful than having a baby? Having twins!
Sure twins mean double the effort and double the work. But they also mean double the joy, double the laughter, double the pride and double the pleasure!
When photographing newborns during winters, sticking with the following tips can help you make the most of the session:
Coordinating does not always mean you match the outfits of your young ones. Even if your twins are not wearing identical outfits, some form of coordination with regard to what they are wearing is important. See if you can follow a loose theme to the outfits you are dressing your children in. You could match them or at least ensure they are somehow loosely connected. Coordination helps improve the overall aesthetic of your baby photos.
Contrast or Compliment
When it comes to colors, dress them in colors that either compliment or blatantly contrast. Examples of complimenting colors could include; blue and purple, dark and light green or any other closely varied shades on a single base color spectrum. Contrasting colors are those that oppose each other on a color wheel. These include sets like; blue and orange, purple and yellow or red and green to name a few. Planning your color themes always helps ensure you get the pictures you desire. If you have hired a professional newborn photographer, it makes sense to bounce your color choices off them in case they have any expert advice!
Keep the Babies Warm
It is after all a winter photo session. You want to keep your children warm and insulated to avoid any health related complications.
Another thing you might want to make a note of is; if you plan on shooting outdoors make sure you have a cloth or insulated surface to place on the ground for your babies to sit or lie on. This will keep them from catching a chill from the cold ground and ensure a smooth photo session. Winters are also a great time to dress your newborns up in all sorts of sweet warm attire. Some examples are baby hats, scarves and little furry boots!
So Much Depends on the Weather
If you’re planning an outdoor shoot, it is imperative to be aware of whether conditions on the day. The reason for this is that it would not be fun getting stuck in the rain. Rain or snow could damage your equipment and make your child fall in. Further, it would also be a shame to have to leave a shoot half done because of the weather. The best way to stay on top of this is to schedule your shoots on days where rain and snow are not expected.
There are many ways to photograph twins. You can do them together or separately for one thing. This is helpful in case one baby decides to throw a tantrum. When photographing twins, it always helps to have someone with you. This could be a friend, a relative or even a nanny. Basically someone who you trust with your newborn. How this helps is; in case one of your twins kicks up a fuss, you still have the option of photographing one child while the helper calms down the other!
Though photographing twins is a lot of fun it can also be quite tricky! Hire a professional. It is always helpful here as it gives you the liberty to focus on your children and play a more active role in the setting up and framing. Last but not least, you get to be photographed with your kids! Regardless of whether it is professional or DIY newborn photography you are going for, the tips above should help give you a leg up!
